Biography / CVAragorn was born in the British Virgin Islands. After schooling in England Bryanston and UEA. He returned to the Virgin Islands to set up a studio and pottery on Trellis Bay, Beef Island. A talented draughtsman, and an expert potter. Aragorns main medium is repousse copper-work. He has exhibited in London, New York, and various galleries in the Caribbean where he is now one of the Islands leading artists.Every full moon Aragorn co-hosts a popular party on the beach outside his studio at which one of the main features, along with stilt-dancing and music of all sorts, is the burning of the fire-balls steel ship's bouys that he has cut into fascinating designs. Ten years ago, with friends from Dominica Carib territory, Argorn co-lead a traditional canoe expedition from the Windward Island into the heartland of Guiana linking Carib Indian communities in the region. A film of this expedition was subsequently shown on BBC television. He is currently gathering material for a book on the crafts of the Caribbean, from Trinidad to Jamaica, and his "Caribbean Craft Fair" is set to become a regular annual feature in the British Virgin Islands. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
